Our Charities

$225,000 in 2013 for these worthy charities:

Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is America’s only nonprofit public charity dedicated exclusively to finding permanent homes for the more than 100,000 children waiting in foster care to be adopted. We are driven by Dave’s vision: Do what is best for the child. In our unwavering pursuit of this goal, we award grants to adoption organizations that connect children with families, raise funds to support our awareness campaigns and service initiatives, and offer free resources to organizations and prospective parents. Because we depend on people like you to help us fulfill our mission, please visit davethomasfoundation.org, or call 1-800-ASK-DTFA to find out how you can help.
HCA_logo The Handicapped Children’s Association has been providing services to the developmentally disabled community for over 65 years.  HCA started out as a one building classroom, providing educational and therapy services to children.  The agency has since expanded into ten residential group homes, a free standing respite home, a building blocks preschool, a clinical services provider and a family support services provider.  HCA will continue to advocate for these individuals to meet its main goal:  Enabling developmentally disabled persons to remain in the community, develop to their fullest potential and become independent functional members of society.

UrbanLeague_logo For over 40 years the Broome County Urban League has provided programs to some of the most needy families and children in our community. Along with food, clothing, housing and school supplies, they provide after school and summer enrichment programs for children ranging in age from 5 to 18 years old.   These programs are unique in nature as they also provide inclusion programming for children with special needs. Their year-round curriculum enhances social and academic growth as they bring together kids with different abilities.  In concert with many other local partners, the BCUL after school and summer programs provide all students with the skills that will guide them throughout their lives.
